Innovative. Purposeful. Success
The three words that best describe the fifth annual Consumidor fashion show, held on the 3rd of August. Hosted at the luxurious Christa Galli venue, guests were greeted under the stars, dazzling in their exclusive designer ensembles while designers were backstage adding the final touches to their extraordinary creations. Months of hard work led up to this!
A wise woman once said that success occurs once opportunities meet preparation. The purpose of the fashion show is to provide a platform for young designers to display their works of art as well as to feed their talent and further evolve their techniques. The theme of this year’s fashion show was fire & ice. Designers had the opportunity to enter various categories such as bliss, smoke, fire, water and ice. Designers created remarkable, innovative products and some even used recycled material contributing to fashion with a cause. Some of these creations entirely changed my perspective on products like a dress gleaming in coke-cola and shoprite bags or another evoking in Marlboro cigarette packets.
The judges Rianca de Wet, Annemarie Schutte and Bianca van der Merwe had their jobs cut out for them.
In the end the top 10 were announced namely: Ansophie Jacobs, Vonn-Lee Robbertse, Leane Mulder, Henriëtte Janse van Vuuren, Juan-Marie Frazen, Nicki Naude, Liezl Duminy, Sheree Botha, Ima Strydom and Nicola Victor.
The night was a huge success and that is thanks to Marschel Tomlinson, the woman behind it all. We will be looking forward to next year's fashion show!
