Do you suddenly feel the need to jog? Are you struggling to lose 10 kg in two days? And is Burger King looking more tempting than ever?
The dine season is upon us and for most of us this can be a quite uncomfortable time of the year. Perhaps you are 2 sizes bigger than last year and lacking the courage to wear your favourite dress or facing the struggle of finding the perfect dine date. Where do you begin?
As someone who went through all of these emotions last year, I’ve decided to transform myself into your Consumidor fairy godmother and provide you with the top tips of not only getting ready for dine, but also how to feel confident and have a blast!
Tip numero uno: Sass up!
Self-love! The one thing I wish I knew last year. Self-love is an attitude! It is deciding not to care about what others think and to put your needs and yourself first. Gaining some attitude and sass is very important because this portrays confidence which is the most beautiful accessory one can wear!
How do you get the self-love starter pack? Well start with spending time with the one person your stuck with forever. YOURSELF! Look at all the positive traits you were given and decide not to let small things like your dress size or body type overthrow these wonderful characteristics.
Tip two: Dressed for success
Finding the perfect dress can be quite stressful (and expensive to say the least). When shopping for the perfect dress, ask yourself what outcomes you want from the dine. Are you going to dance and make memories with your friends? Then choose a dress that is comfortable and doesn’t restrict your glamourous dance moves. Going for the food? Then choose a dress with pockets! Or are you wanting to impress your fellow students with your super sequence dress? This will help you narrow down the options to find the perfect dress customised to your needs
Tip number three: Arm candy
Looking for an individual to accompany you on the night can sometimes be trickier than finding the right dress. The awkwardness of first finding a date, asking him to join you and then perhaps asking him to pay for his own dine ticket? The best advice I could give you is to rather go with a friend or be an independent strong woman and show up with your gall palls. Going with someone you feel comfortable with will not only enhance the quality of your dine experience but will also ensure twice the fun and less fuss!
Tip num…: Pre is key
Whoever your date may be REMEMBER: pre is key! “Pre” is university slang for having a small party just to break the ice before attending the main event. This is important since it eliminates any shyness, nerves, awkward vibes or stiff dance moves. This doesn’t have to be anything big, just a quick fix at the bar will do.
Tip No. 5: Have fun
Soak up all the good memories with the people you love. Don’t be shy or afraid to dance or embarrass yourself. Soon university will be over and then all our sentences will start with…. “When I was your age”. Live in the moment, buy your dine ticket and experience the wonders of being a student (even if it means trying to fit into a dress two sizes smaller).
