As ‘n student is een van die grootste uitdagings die toetreding tot ‘n lewe van volwassenheid en onafhanklikheid. In jou voorbereiding tot Universiteitslewe, moet items soos kombuis – en huisware in ag geneem word. Om kombuisgoed te begin versamel is beide ongelooflik opwindend en angswekkend. Kombuisware is dikwels duur, en dis moeilik om vas te stel wat nodig gaan wees in jou kombuis totdat jy hom self begin in gebruik stel. As ‘n student wat lief is vir kos maak, het ek gevind dat dit beste is om ‘n minimalistiese versameling van kombuisgoed te hê, en later te bou daarop.   • Stamlose wynglase kan gebruik word vir enige drankie, van sap tot wyn!

  • Potte en panne met ‘n magnetiese bodem is geskik vir induksie plate, en kan dus gebruik word in enige woonstel

  • Hout spane is meer ekonomies – dit smelt nie!

  • ‘n Hout lepel met gaatjies dien as ’n 2 in 1 dreinerings lepel

  • ‘n Staal tang kan gebruik word as braai tang ook

  • ‘n Kombuis skêr met ‘n magnetiese agterkant kan teen die yskas gestoor word vir maklike toegang

  • Plastiek en bamboes kapplanke is meer higiënies omdat dit minder poreus is

  • ‘n Sif kan dien as ‘n 3 in 1 – sif, vergietes en om groente in te stoom oor ‘n pot

Minimalistic beginner kitchen guide


As a student one of the greatest challenges is entering a life of adulthood and independence. In your preparation for University life, items such as kitchen - and homeware must be taken into account. Gathering kitchenware is both extremely thrilling and frightening. Kitchen supplies are often expensive, and it is a challenge to determine which items will be needed in your kitchen, until you start using your it. As a student that has a passion for cooking, have a found that it is best to start a minimalistic collection of kitchen items, and to branch out later on. Here follows a basic list of essential kitchenware:

Tips:

  • Stemless wineglasses can be used for any drink, from juice to wine!

  • Potts and pans with a magnetic bottom is suitable for induction plates, and can therefore be used in any flat

  • Wooden spoons are more economic - it doesn't melt!

  • A wooden spoon with slots serves as a 2 in 1 draining spoon

  • Steel tongs can double as a BBQ tong as well

  • A kitchen scissor with a magnetic back can be stored against the refrigerator for easy access

  • Plastic and bamboo chopping boards are more hygienic as they are less porous

  • A sift can serve as a 3 in 1 - sift, colander and to steam vegetables over a pot ‘
