Step up jou braaibroodjie game

{English follows Afrikaans}

somtyds blatjang of konfyt. Moet my nie verkeerd verstaan nie, dit bly

4 Eksotiese Braaibroodjie idees :

1. Biltong en Kaas

2. Gekarameliseerde uie, basieliekruid en brie

3. Roomkaas, vye en mozzarella

4. Nutella, malvalekkers en piesang

Step up your “braaibroodjie” game

For most South-Africans a “braaibroodjie” is the compulsory side dish, without which a “braai” would be incomplete. And for most South-African men this is the most important aspect on their “dream wife checklist”, that she is able to make killer “braaibroodjie”. They do not say that the way to a man’s heart is by food, for nothing.

We are all familiar with the traditional “braaibroodjie” consisting of tomato, cheese, onions and occasionally chutney or jam. Don’t get me wrong, those types will always be delicious, but it’s time to experiment with traditional food, and to find an easier route to your man’s heart.

Four tips for better “Braaibroodjies”:

· Grated cheese works better that cheese slices, as they melt easier and more evenly.

· Choose a more solid bread that will not crumble and fall apart on the “braai”.

· Spread butter on both sides of the bread, this helps to keep the bread moist and gives it an appetising gold colour.

· Do not forget to add salt and freshly ground pepper to the filling.

Four exotic “Braaibroodjie” ideas:

1. Biltong and cheese

2. Caramelised onions, basil and brie

3. Cream cheese, figs and mozzarella

4. Nutella, marshmallows and banana
